A protein-packed, healthy alternative to traditional bagels, made easily in the air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Pinch of salt (optional)
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons cottage cheese (2% or 4%)
  • 1 egg (optional)
  • Toppings: everything seasoning, poppy seeds, sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour and baking powder in a medium bowl. Add a pinch of salt if desired.
  2. Create a well in the center and add the cottage cheese. Mix until a chunky dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes until itโ€™s semi-smooth. Add more flour if the dough is sticky.
  4. Divide the dough into four portions, rolling each into a 6-7 inch log. Connect the ends to form bagels.
  5. Whisk the egg with a splash of water or milk. Brush it over the bagels, then sprinkle your preferred toppings on top.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 300ยฐF and spray the basket with cooking spray. Place the bagels in a single layer and cook for 15-17 minutes, or until golden. Check on them at the 10-minute mark.
  7. Let the bagels cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a nuttier flavor, consider using whole wheat flour. Dairy-free cottage cheese is a great vegan option.
